Villa with a View of the Sea in San Vito – Taranto (Southern Italy)
Single family home
For Kino Workshop, this full renovation of a family home situated on the coast of the Ionic Sea was the most complex of a career spanning more than two decades. Over the course of two years, the project required the input of numerous technical experts in the most diverse disciplines of the architectural and construction industry, bringing architectural designers together to create bold concepts such as a complex, structural glass wall leaning over the sea. Curated to the most minute detail, a bronze sculpture at the base of the main staircase that was commissioned by a goldsmith.
The lofting two story entrance of the building, the staircase leading to the upper floor, the intense thought put into every surface, and the dimensional contrast of the filled void (some spaces voluminous and others on a more human scale) are all aspects that give depth and character to this living space that from mere residence becomes a perfect and harmonious work of architecture.
